makeover in progress

this is the start to addies room makeover, painting the bookshelf. i "craft-lifted" the idea from nie. it used to look like this, walmart-ish, brown, woody looking. i painted it and staple gunned fabric to the back. simple fixer upper.

i just need to get my excitement up for re-painting her room. white is the color I'm going for. it is currently bubble gum pink. i really dislike painting though. once i get that job out of the way, i will be happy. my wheels are turning with ways to finish up the room, new art, a banner, a hobnail lamp(if only i could find one), and finding a bed for callie to move in, when she's ready.

addie came in the room after i got the books back on the bookshelf and she said," its the first day!" i asked,"the first day of what?" then she responded, "the bookshelf's first day!"

my lips are raw and chapped. i tend to bite them when i am nervous, stressed, in deep thought, anxious. i swore i would get my christmas shopping done with early this year, like in july! but as always, i am a procrastinator, and here i am. but,,,, i am almost done. one more item on the list. my sewing room is messy.

silver and gold wrapping have just naturally become a theme.

sadly these are about the only handmade gifts this year, other than quilts, but still. i had my hopes hi that i would have the majority or christmas be handmade. o well. who am i kidding. i dont have that kind of time. but i am loving how these are turning out. i just need to get them DONE!

i was able to sneak out of the house yesterday with no children and take some pictures of my cousin, whitneys little family. they are so cute and little emily was such a good baby and never made a peep.

isnt she gorgeous! i know! they are such fun and good people.

now, i need to get my hands on those dolls.

but i have not been in the mood to put my tree up. could be for a number of reasons, one of them being that it may end up like this again this year. so i sorted through the ornaments and picked out the unsentimental, unbreakable ones and let addie trim the bottom of the tree. i will leave it like this until Christmas eve, then make it pretty. until then i wont have to worry about it and she can rearrange them as she pleases.

we put on our sweaters (really didn't have to), we got in the car, we turned the radio to the local holiday station, we drove to the nearest gas station, we bought some hot chocolate, we turned the a.c. on to make it feel a little bit like December, and we looked at Christmas lights. i love driving and looking at the lights. the kids are happy. i might just go every night, seriously.

still havent started my shopping.
