:::we are working in our yard today. cleaning up house. maybe hit up the farmers market. addie has been begging me for watermelon. i am hoping me and the mister can find a way to go out tonight. hmmmm, thai again. i will never get sick of it!

the zoo

we visited the zoo a few days ago, and believe it or not, these were the only pictures i got.

her favorite animal was the giraffe.

her favorite part was brushing the goats... go figure.

usually she freaks out.

i was shocked.

his favorite part was of course, being held and loving on mommy and smothering her with slobbery, open mouth kisses!

rag curlers

i did rag curls in the girls hair one night before bed.

suprisingly they left them in and didnt touch them.

see callies hand in her pants... its always like that, 24/7. makes for a perfect warm pocket.

she has a dimple on her right cheek only... just like her daddy.

i used the rag curl tutorial over at vixen vintage. (such an adorable site.)

the curls were a bit crazy the next morning. there was some afro action going on.

but as vixen vintage says, it takes practice. i am totally going to do these again and again. even if the curls dont work out in the morning. they make me happy.

annual easter egg hunt

marks sisters house is perfect for our annual egg hunt. open spaces, grass, trees, and even animals. they have had chickens, goats and even pigs. its been fun to visit their "farm". this time, they had a mama goat that gave birth 2 weeks ago! it was adorable.

their garden was beautiful. what i would give for a nice big piece of land. i can dream.

what a relaxing, spiritual, and wonderful Easter we had. this holiday is one of my favorites. the world is filled with new life, spring. it reminds me of the new life my of my Savior, Jesus Christ. his suffering and resurrection was for me, and you. how i am filled with joy and thankfulness to him.

i know he lives. and that because of him, we shall live again also.

a yummy recipe for you and yours.

happy april!

what a beautiful day it is today. i went on a great run this morning (im not april foolsing you on that one!) and we had some good family fun time.

so i promised you all a good chocolate cake recipe, and i am delivering!

here is my lovely grandma walker...

and here is her

chocolate mahogany cake recipe...

1 1/2 Cups sugar

2/3 Cups shortening

combine the above in a mixer

add to above mixture:

1/2 Cup cocoa

3 eggs

mix

add to above mixture:

1 1/2 Cups milk

1 tsp vanilla

mix

sift and add to above mixture:

1 tsp. soda

2 cups flour

1/2 tsp salt

mix well. bake at 350 degrees for 20-22 min in two 9" round pans. or for cupcakes i baked them at 350 for about 16 min or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Frosting:

1/4 C. shortening, pinch of salt, 1/2 Cup milk, 1/4 C. cocoa, 1 tsp. vanilla, 3 3/4 C. powdered sugar.

cream sugar and shortening. add other ingredients but only half of the milk. mix and add the rest of milk as needed.
