a yummy recipe for you and yours.

happy april!
what a beautiful day it is today. i went on a great run this morning (im not april foolsing you on that one!) and we had some good family fun time.
so i promised you all a good chocolate cake recipe, and i am delivering!
here is my lovely grandma walker...



and here is her

chocolate mahogany cake recipe...

1 1/2 Cups sugar

2/3 Cups shortening

combine the above in a mixer

add to above mixture:

1/2 Cup cocoa

3 eggs

mix

add to above mixture:

1 1/2 Cups milk

1 tsp vanilla

mix

sift and add to above mixture:

1 tsp. soda

2 cups flour

1/2 tsp salt

mix well. bake at 350 degrees for 20-22 min in two 9" round pans. or for cupcakes i baked them at 350 for about 16 min or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Frosting:

1/4 C. shortening, pinch of salt, 1/2 Cup milk, 1/4 C. cocoa, 1 tsp. vanilla, 3 3/4 C. powdered sugar.

cream sugar and shortening. add other ingredients but only half of the milk. mix and add the rest of milk as needed.
