baby blue

[18 1/2 weeks]
Its a BOY!!!
im not gonna lie, im kinda scared/nervous. i guess i just thought i would always have girls and i have grown accustomed to the girl way of things. i dont like change with anything, and this is a big change from what im used to. but i am up for it!:) and seeing mark grin ear to ear was priceless. i am very excited. it all seems so real to me now. i can begin the name choosing, and getting ready for our little man. oh my gosh! im having a boy!
thoughts of moving callie into addies room and changing the guest bedroom into a boy room are encircling my head. trains, shorter hair cuts, dinosaurs, and getting peed in the face are other thoughts.
but mostly, i just cant wait to wrap up that little bundle and cradle him in my arms and look into his little eyes. it warms my heart and eases my mind. i have a love for him already burning in my heart. a new adventure in my life is starting.

what do you think it will be?

boy
or
girl
?
because i get to find out today!

all about pesto

lets just start off by saying,
i have basil coming out my ears. i planted alot this year, knowing i wanted to make pesto with it.
i LOVE pesto. it is so fresh and flavorful. so perfect for summer. so yummy.
heres the recipe i used. i got it from the blog of the amazing kelly mccalleb.
i love this recipe because it is so simple, you cant mess it up and it uses walnuts instead of pine nuts. walnuts and more easy to find and less expensive. and i love the nutty flavor it brings to the sauce.

pesto:
mix together in food processor or blender:
3 cups fresh basil leaves, 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts, 3 cloves of garlic, 1/3 cup parmesan cheese. while processing slowly pour in 1 cup extra virgin olive oil. Add salt and pepper to taste.(it needs quite a bit). pour over noodles of your choice. it really doesnt take that much pesto to coat your noodles, so add a little at a time. i doubled this recipe and it made a little bit over a full canning jar. i put the extras in freezer bags, sealed out all the air, and put it in the freezer for other meals.

the other day i made this as a snack. very delicious.
slice of french bread. spread pesto on bread. top with sliced tomatoes(so yummy if they are from your garden), shredded parmesan cheese, and a little fresh cracked pepper. put under the broiler until cheese is melted.

here are some other good lookin recipes i found that you can use with your pesto:

pesto twists
pesto herb spread
smoked mozzarella and pesto sandwich
cream of tomato soup with pesto

happy pesto making!

i love me a flapper girl haircut

callie got her very first haircut at the ripe ol age of 2 (well she turns 2 next month).
she was sporting the mullet for too long, i finally gave in and got those wispy baby hairs (that i love so much) cut.
as if i need more reasons to kiss this little girls neck! she is just so adorable, i have been smothering her all day with kisses.

and what do i bribe her with to sit still
for a picture?
popcorn! she loves it.

i love you callie

[pictured above]
addie and callies sunflowers that are planted in the garden and are about 10 ft high. they tower over the wall and bring sunshine to every neighbor, at least i hope.

many red ripe tomatoes
2 banana peppers
1 white onion
1 zucchini
and a big bunch of basil

i just picked a huge bunch of basil the other day and made pesto. yum a dum. i will share the recipe with you soon. looks like i will be making more. i have basil coming out my ears, which is a good thing!

did you notice my little bump?

try outs

this morning addie informed me she was going to dance for me, just like on the dancing show (So You Think You Can Dance).
notice her shipping label name tag that she constructed herself. with her name written in blue crayon.

shes ready, start the music...
i give you addie, dancing for her life!
i think she made it!
no doubt about it.
